X-Wing with LED engine lights – Part 2

So today I removed all the masking and with some minor manual small corrections with a white brush I finished the wings and the engines.

Masking removed with some minor touch ups still necessary.

Preparing the LED housings

Then I went ahead and filed away the pins and part of the rear engine housing in order to make the 3mm LEDs fit. I also shorted the receiving pins on the body and widened the holes so that the parts can be taken apart again before being glued.

I have a set of small files and one of them fit the job perfectly.

After having done this procedure four times I went ahead and masked the body as well as the canopy and painted those pieces according to the instructions.

After taking the masking tape off and painting parts of the cockpit interior black – with some white touch ups still necessary

Now I’ll have to wait for some stuff to arrive before I can continue with the project:

  • red flickering LEDs ordered on ebay
  • Vallejo wash colors for weathering
