USS Enterprise Model Build – Part 8 – Saucer LED test
So yesterday I continued to work on the internal lighting of the USS Enterprise. We did almost finish all the wiring and soldering for the rotating nacelle lights, which was a beeeeeeotch to complete. Many thanks to my friend Claus who did all the work with me just lending a helping hand.
Unfortunately when we tried to test the finished work with the wired power supply we somehow got the polarity reversed (yeah – what a shame) and melted one of the components. Poof up it went in smoke. Now we’ll have to get replacements for the two parts that are most likely damaged.
But I made some nice pictures and videos of the saucer lighting which already looks very nice even before glueing it all together and filling the gaps with this special revell paste.
Saucer section lighting test
Short demonstration video
Short video of the finished saucer LED lighting. I think that already looks pretty cool : )
I also have not yet glued the bridge piece on top of the upper saucer section – just in case you’re wondering what the huge white light is on top : )
The red LED that you can see at the rear of the saucer will be covered with the custom made impulse engine housing which will be covered in one of the next posts.
