HOW TO ADD LED LIGHTING IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE PREMIUM LIGHTING PACKAGE

Update: Today I went and tried to remove the footwell lights again. This time it worked and I was able to attach the two remaining blue LED arrays easily. The cool thing is that I can easily remove and replace them with any other LED lighting I might want in the future : )

the LED array comes with 3M adhesive tape. I just placed it over the hole for the original lights.
If your car is called “Blue Arrow”, you need blue interior lights : ) My kids love them : )
The final result

I followed some instructions on teslamotorsclub.com which used LED arrays that can be directly attached to already existing wires underneath the driver and passenger seats. I ordered them from amazon for a couple of bucks and had them installed in minutes. The hardest part is bending yourself in half trying to attach them to the underside of the seats….

Size of the arrays compared to an apple Mouse (that’s what I had handy at the time…)
The installed array under the seat

The arrays can be easily attached to a little black wire that is situated under each seat. I ordered a set of four white and blue arrays and just installed the blue ones:

It looks a little like out of a furious 7 movie but I like it : )

  1. I see wires under the seats but no obvious connector. Can you give a little more detail on what to look for?

    • Hi Ron – i had the same problems as well. You just need to use a bright flashlight and carefully start pulling on the bunch of wires that are under the seat. Eventually you will see a black wire with a slim black plug that is not connected to anything. My wire was connected to the underside of the seat with a white plastic cable but I could pull it out further so that attaching the LED array was easily done.

Unfortunately taking pictures while lying down underneath the seat does not give great results. Just have a look again – maybe start with the other seat until you find the cable there and then go back to the other one. I hope this helps !
