BUT I JUST WANTED TO TAKE A QUICK TEST DRIVE…
Since I had been driving a Chevrolet Volt for the last three years I’ve had my eye on the Model S for quite some time. I then decided to go and take a test drive in September 2014.
The Tesla Service Center in Möhlin, Switzerland is situated in an industrial park off on a field somewhere. I first thought I had taken a wrong turn somewhere. But then at the very end of some old warehouses appeared the new service center which indeed looked very nice. The couple of Teslas parked in front of it also made quite an impact : )
“You’re not driving a real electric car” was all he said. So he had me sign a small insurance declaration should I total the car (!) and then off we went. We drove crosscountry for a while and then he took me to the onramp of the Autobahn where he asked me to come to a dead stop, to firmly hold on to the steering wheel and to stomp down on the accelerator.
What followed is what you see on so many youtube videos. I just had that wide Tesla grin on my face. I thought I was used to the great acceleration that en electric car provides, but the acceleration of my Volt was nothing compared to the Model S. I need to add that they had me driving the Model S P85 but I think that I won’t be disappointed once I get my S 85 D.
Needless to say, about an hour later I went home and talked to my wife. A week later the S 85 D was announced and we put down the deposit for a reservation : )
